Hi guys,

I've just installed the latest Mac version of TED (0.972) and have found that English is no longer listed as an option in Preferences -> Look and Feel -> Language.

I've chosen Hebrew and found this is displaying interface elements as English - does the label in the Language drop down need amending to include English?

Cheers,

Andrew.

hey Andrew, i too have this problem. i was checking to see what, if any, new options were in the settings dialog and changed it to another language just for kicks. when i went to switch it back, i found there was no entry for English. have you tried to download the English translation file and putting it the main folder? it didn't work for me, but you can find it here.

i'm using the linux version so it's not easy (for me) to figure out how to fix this. i've tried to apply the new version over the old files again to see if that would fix it, but that didn't work either. really hoping i won't have to remove it completely and start from scratch.

I just installed latest version. English missing. Did the exact same thing as DMWill, except in Win7 64bit, with same results.

i read what Andrew had posted again after my first reply. If you set it to Hebrew like he did, it does display everything in English. obviously a minor programming error, but this is a workaround i have no problem with. try it out, Bartikus. i'm guessing you'll get the same results. if you do, then this is the solution for all platforms; Andrew with Mac, myself on Linux, and you said you're on Win7.

I've found that, after changing any settings, you can then edit the config.ted and change locale_language and locale_country to these settings to switch back to English:
Code:
locale_language=en
locale_country=US

You probably have to exit Ted, make the changes, then restart Ted.
I found the file in "~/.Torrent Episode Downloader" in Linux.

thanks mobilediesel. as soon as i read that, i did the palm-to-face. what's weird is that the Hebrew thing actually works. and i want to mention, when it is changed back to english through editing the file manually, the language that is displayed is Catalan. what ever that is. i think that's why i switched from it looking for English in the first place. thanks again man.

Thanks for mentioning the Hebrew trick. I had resorted to modifying the config.ted file. As an FYI, that file can be found under "\documents and settings\%username%\Application Data\Torrent Episode Downloader" under Windows.

Even better is when it shows Catalan in the menu, it saves that as the language when you save ANY settings at all.

At least it's more of an annoyance than actual breakage of the program. I don't use it ALL the time but often enough that it would be missed if I couldn't use it.

Thanks for the tips guys and glad to see it wasn't just me that was having the difficulty.

I've modified my config.ted file (as indicated by mobilediesel above) and the language is displaying in English.

In my case the Mac config file is located at ~/Library/Application Support/Torrent Episode Downloader/config.ted

I get the impression that English has accidentally been left out as one of the options in the Language drop down - hopefully this can be fairly easily fixed in the next TED program update.

Cheers,

Andrew.

You where on the right track.

Fix:

1 - Download English translation file here
2 - rename it in this format tedLang_en_CA.properties (Change CA to US or UK or whatever)
3 - go to folder where ted.jar resides. (In my case /home/brad/ted/ted.jar)
4 - open with archive manager (Linux) or winrar (Windows) or Jar Inspector (Mac)
5 - Inside your program chosen in step 4 navigate to /ted/translations/
6 - Drag and Drop the file you downloaded into the /ted/transaltions/ folder
7 - save the ted.jar file

I use Linux and this worked. I can imagine it to work on windows, but I'm just guessing on the mac (they scare me) ;)

I'm sorry, we messed something up with the creation of our installers. The English language file was missing. We just updated all our installers, so if you encounter this problem, please download & re-install ted.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Not a big deal as more than one workaround was posted here already. If Microsoft responded to bug reports like that I would probably still be using Windows.

The bug still exist. I installed ted 972 and after i have done some changes in preferences and want do save it it changes the language to a different one. And there is no way to change it back, also the timezone selection is not visible, but that's another topic.
