I have tried several shows with more than enought torrents and none of them will download anything. I have adjusted the min seeders to 0 and also changed the torrent timeout to 20 seconds and nothing seems to work. I also made sure that the folder for storing torrent files that ted finds is in the my documents folder.

Am I doing something wrong?

Updated, I checked the box to min to tray and then closed it and opened it again and bam works like a champ. Not sure why it wasn't working first time but now its all set.

Hope this helps if your having the issue. Maybe try changing the download folder and then restart the app.

I'm not certain your issue is the same as SiGainey and I have been discussing. When your torrents wouldn't start, did you happen to check the log to see if ted had in fact FOUND torrents....but for some apparent reason discarded them refusing to start the download - even stating the fact it wasn't going to download them in the log?

I continue to have difficulty with this. The torrents ted finds are operational - I can browse to the applicable web page and manually download them adding them to my torrent client. It's a very frustrating mystery why ted things they're not valid and refuses to simply pass what it's found to the torrent client.

I don't wish to disrespect the developers of ted - it has the potential to be a fantastic tool and I for one am greatful for the time the developers have spent on it! But in my humble opinion....this issue is major and I don't really understand why a solution isn't being developed as a highest priority. Surely having ted find many useful torrents but for mystery reasons refusing to utilize them is a fundamental flaw that I'd think would trump work on any other tweaks or improvements. This issue actually prevents ted from working.

I'm not a software developer - but surely it would be easy to simply add a user preference to optionally disable whatever internal check ted uses to decide if a torrent is 'ok' or not....and instead just obediently pass it to the torrent client.

Many thanks to the developers - you're doing great work - but any chance addressing this particular serious bug could be moved up the line of planned changes and be given greater priority?

A possible fix for those with this problem:

I noticed that ted worked on my Mac, but not my server. I thought it was because the server had been updated to .971, instead of ,97 on my Mac.

Turns out, it was due to a slightly outdated Java installation. If you are getting a lot of errors, try updating your Java installation! (On Windows, it's Control Panel, Java, Update Tab, Check Now, at least if you have Java 6 installed.)

I've not tested it extensively, but I couldn't download anything before, and now I have downloaded something.

I have had this happen on every computer that I installed it on. Here is what I have found to be true on every one (I even installed it on a few other computers just to test):

When you install it, the first time you run the program, it will give these errors on any and every show you add.

To make it work, simply close the program (right-click the tray icon and select Exit - hitting the X just minimizes it to tray), and then start it back up and everything starts working.

Since this is a program that you tend to leave running once it is started, it took a while to figure out, and that is why you see other people who finally get it working because they update the program or java or whatever. It just happens that is the first time they closed the program and opened it back up again!

Restarting ted after installation seems to be the solve for this issue. Why is a question for the devs to answer.

It appears to me this thread has been redirected from the original problem report the first poster made....and I followed up about. That problem related to TED finding, but deliberately not downloading for some reason, perfectly valid torrents. The log file clearly shows torrents have been found but that TED has some internal 'torrent validity' check that makes the program decide the torrent isn't good enough. Manually web browsing to the torrent and clicking it shows the torrent is in fact perfectly fine though.

This is not a first time run after installation issue. Rebooting most definitely does not help the issue this thread was begun to document.

With respect, may I please request further posts about the issue of needing a restart following installation be moved to a separate thread so that this thread's original purpose is not further clouded?

Well, against all odds closing and restarting TED solved the problem!!!

I was very skeptic about this solution, but for me it worked!

Well the lead developers avatar and the fact that this thread is 16 months old does not give me much hope for resolution, bet here goes:

Same issue for me. I have exited Ted and restarted. I have also restarted the computer. I agree with the previous posters and feel this is a critical flaw. I would PAY for this software if it worked as advertised, but will uninstall without resolution. I use uTorrent and grab everything just fine manually. Ted fails.

Anybody figure this out besides the folks that got lucky with a restart?
