Seriously, what is the point. They're not had to spot, every day I come home and find torrents with the files "HDTV.nfo" or "Codec.exe" in them. No amount of filtering stops them so how difficult is it to add the code to read the file list of the torrent, look for those files or other specified files and go on to the next torrent if they're found? Even if you just add a time delay option so perhaps we could specify something like 4 hours after the programme airs or whatever arbitrary value we choose because these fakes are usually released early and later on the genuine ones take precedence. Otherwise I might as well just do this manually.

Assuming you're on Windows, go to the "Extra" menu, then choose "Preferences".

When the new window comes up, click on "Advanced". Make sure there's a check in the box next to "Do not download files with these extensions".

In the box below that, put the extensions you want to exclude. (exe, wmv, etc.)

This works for me. I also fine tuned the size of the file filters. These together have culled 95% of the fakes from my downloads.

I'm not on Windows, I'm on Ubuntu and the .exe exclusion is checked. I've done the same with the file size filters but these freaks seem to be so close with their file sizes it's getting so much harder. I've tried using !HDTV.nfo in the exclusion filters but that seems to only check the titles. I guess it's time to look for another solution to this because clearly the fakers are far more clever than the developers or TED

I second that!
I'm on mac, and have the same problem with the hdtv.nfo files in a folder with the name of the file, along with the avi file (and sometimes avi.avi) which are unplayable. There's no way to filter them in ted: Can't filter .nfo extension because there are a lot of legit files (specially 720p) with nfo files (but the name is the same as the file, not hdtv). Usually, the filesize is very close to the legit, so we cannot filter them with size.
ti would be great if we can filter certain filenames, the same way we can filter only extensions.
