No torrents found

It can happen that ted fails to download an episode. This page will explain the main reasons why finding or downloading a torrent for an episode can fail and will offer some solutions. If you still have questions after reading this page, please go to our support forum.

No torrents found

ted did not find any torrents for the current episode that the show is set on. This will be clearly indicated by the show status text in the main window of ted. It will read: No torrents found.

Reasons

  • The episode is not yet released. It can take a while before an episode is available on the torrent websites.
  • The episode is too old. ted can only find recent torrents. If an episode is too old, it will dissappear from the search results ted uses. ted uses RSS feeds from torrent sites to get the episodes from. Some sites put restrictions on their feed. They might only return the last 20 torrents added to the site. If that is the case, it could be that ted cannot find a torrent while you can find one if you search the site manually.
  • There are no episodes that satisfy the keywords filter

Solution

  • Wait untill the episode is released online (usually a few hours after it has been aired)
  • Add more feeds to the show. It could be that the show is released earlier on other torrent sites
  • Manually download the episode and set the show to the next
  • Try to remove keywords from the shows keyword filter

found x torrents but downloaded none

ted found torrents for the episode, but decided that they were not good enough to download.

ted contains a number of filters (size filter, seeder filter, keyword filter) to block bad torrents. These bad torrents can either contain fake video files, previews or not enough seeders to download from.

To find out what happened exactly, you have to open the log window. This is quite inconvenient and we are going to make this easier in next releases of ted.

Open the log via "Extra > Show Log..." in the menu bar. The log will display search results per show. Find the show that you have trouble with. Under "Found" are all the torrents that were found listed. Under "Rejected" you will find the reasons why a specific torrent is rejected.

This is a list of the reject reasons you will find in the log. If you get the reject reasons often, try one of the offered solutions and see if that helps.

  • Error verifying torrent contents: the tracker returned no information
    • Reason A common error. ted tries to connect to the torrents tracker to retrieve the number of seeders and leechers. But the connection fails. ted cannot judge the torrent quality (since he does not have a seeder/leecher count) so the torrent is rejected.
    • Solution Try to set the | seeder filter to 0. This will prevent ted from contacting the tracker to retrieve seeder information. But note: you could get a bad torrent.
  • File size incorrect
    • Reason: The size of the files in the torrent do not match with the size filter
    • Solution Try to broaden the size filter range
  • Not enough seeders
    • Reason: The number of seeders of the torrent is less than set in the seeder filter
    • Solution: decrease the number of seeders in the seeder filter or set it to 0 to disable it.
  • Episode is not of HD quality: 720p & HD not present in torrent title
    • Reason: The show is set to download episodes in HD quality but the torrent title does not contain the HD keywords (720p and HD)
    • Solution: Disable HD quality downloads for the show (via the shows Filters tab)
  • Contains compressed files
    • Reason: the files in the torrent have blocked file extensions (zip, rar, etc)
    • Solution: If you are happy with files that are compressed (those often contain fake video files), you can disable the file extension fiter via the Advanced tab of ted preferences.
  • An error occurred while retrieving torrent info
    • Reason: ted failed to interpret the torrent meta data (such as files, file sizes) and cannot judge the torrent contents correctly, thus the torrent is rejected
