That will not work - people have different time zones, check preferences etc.

I'm leaning towards - just enabling the torrent sites you trust. So, to the devs - please post once more - how to disable those sites ... which you don't recommend us disabling and we'll be on our own if we do :)

I think it was something like ... saying ..

<location>
<name>XTVi</name>
<feed>http://www.xtvi.com/rss.php?query=#NAME#</feed>
<website>http://www.xtvi.com/</website>
<type>1</type>
</location>

Setting the <type> to "1" or something in that direction.
- is this still the way to do it in 0.97 ?

I've found the easiest way is to remove BTJunkie from the feeds, as this is where I always end up with fakes pulled from. Sadly though it's a ball ache to go through and edit each individual show I have set up in Ted but once it's done fakes be gone! (until the next TED update when they reappear :()

Any chance of the feeds section being added under the "Edit all shows" option so that I can just remove it from there once and it in turn be removed from all my shows, as well as letting me move EZRSS to the top of the feeds list?

for the most part I found that it's the btjunkie and the isohunt feeds that get the bulk majority of the fakes. Most of the problem is not that the feeds are necessarily bad (though i would personally never use isohunt for something that has just be released, there are just to many fakes on there), just to broad, they get every torrent released. Now I've used just the mininova one, and it works well about 99% of the time, and the ezrss feeds are the best.
I would suggest either removing the isohunt/btjunkie ones, which would cut into the available torrent pool, or making the feeds on those sites more targeted.

Right now say for Smallville (one of the shows I watch), you use this rss feed for btjunkie: http://btjunkie.org/rss.xml?query=Smallville
While that does find what we want its simply to wide to eliminate the fakes. I know personaly that on mininova you can do rss feeds by user name (which a few others suggested as well), which I think would help a bunch in removing fakes. All sites may not have this feature, but at least it would help.

Also I noted that most of these fakes go up about an hour to 30 mins before the good ones come out. If you could make it is that TED doesn't look for a show until after a user defined time (say 10pm instead of just always look after 12 am on the day it airs), that would also limit the number of fakes downloaded.

I've noticed a lot of the fakes have a comment indicating they are coming from torrentportal.com.

Most are coming from isohunt as the feed source from what I'm seeing as well.

We're going to implement something like that for the next release of ted. I really want to make it a lot easier to modify the feeds that ted uses for you guys. But it will take some time, so for now, you can hack the shows_clean.xml and then sync your shows with it.

- Open shows_clean.xml
- The feeds are somewhere in the top
- Feeds that are used by default have <type>5</type>
- Change feeds that you don't want to use to <type>0</type>
(5 = default ted feed, 0 = search based feed which will not be used by defauly)
- Save it, go to ted, choose Help, Software updates, Synchronise shows (this will re-apply shows_clean.xml settings to all your shows, so beware if you changed things like filters or keywords here, those changes will be lost)

If this really helps (removing btjunkie) we might consider to remove it as a default ted source. But they also have a lot of good torrents, so at the moment I'm not really in favor of doing so..

Thanks ... Maybe put that info into your FAQ page ?! I think that many are going to disable some of the default feeds you prefer to still have around :)

I thought that ted checks the file size in order to prevent this. I guess the files are well-faked. I don't really see the point of checking the file size if ted is going to download fakes and skip perfectly good torrents that are out there, which is what ted seems to do now.

These fakes are well made , the file size is correct.
You can always adjust the file size filter when you think it blocks good torrents but I think the file size filter is a good way to filter out other fake files and preview (trailer) files that sometimes are posted for episodes.

Is there no way to make TED check the votes for a file. BT Junkie and ISOhunt bad files are easy to spot when doing a normal search just by looking at the god vs bad votes for a file.

I know TED uses RSS so probably a lot of work to do this but would surely solve the problem.

I like that.

Hello All

My vote is to enable the feature that does not start the download until at least the time the show is aired in your time zone.

(I would be willing to code/test on this feature if you would like help.)

I also like the vote test idea.

Regards
Russ

The only reliable way I have found round it is to download HD copies instead but sometimes that means I have to wait for my shows...

I did notice that the file size is usually a round number like 350mb whereas genuine files are normally different sizes - like 347mb or 351mb. Its not just BT either, I redownloaded a file yesterday from a newsgroup because TED had downloaded a fake and it was a fake as well...never had that before.

I'm fortunate enough to being able to use only a combo of ezrss and mininova - still using the most feeders filter/feature and a check time of every three hours instead of the default 60. I'm fortunate in that I live in Europe and I'm not at home as the episodes are released anyway.

If I where to have others that normally ain't either of these places .... why not just add a custom show for it instead of using public sites that holds alot of crap as well ?

Just my 2 cent.

The feature "do not download torrents from private trackers", must refer to a list of trackers known to be private right? Can we get access to that blocklist aswell, so we can add our own trackers to be blocked?

I am thinking of atleast one of the following three, causing the torrent to not be downloaded. Theese three trackers all appeared in the last three fakes i got:

http://photodiode.mine.nu:6969/announce

being able to block them would be sweet...

Not sure if this would help or not, but I've noticed that all of these fakes do not list a "Length" when you view your download folder by 'Details'.

See my screenshot below.

Any chance that TED could leverage that to avoid these torrents?

BTW.. I am a HUGE fan of this program! :)Unfortunately though, this issue is causing a lot of paint points.. it's almost getting easier to just go to EZTV's direct site to grab the real torrents. :(
