Start ted

Lauching ted is different on every operating system. Below you will find the way to launch ted on your computer.

If everything goes alright, you should see the mainwindow of ted after you clicked ted. You can then continue with the configuration of ted.

Windows

If you used the windows installer you can find ted in your start menu. Just click ted to start ted. You can also add ted to the startup folder of windows to start ted everytime you boot up windows.

Mac

To launch ted, click the ted application in your application folder. You could also let ted start every time you boot your mac.

Other

To run ted go to the folder where you have just extracted ted. Double click on the file "ted.jar". Or if your operating system does not support this, open a console window, go to the folder where you have extracted ted and type "java -jar ted.jar" to launch ted.

Troubleshooting

If ted does not open, make sure you have got Java Runtime Environment 5.0 or better installed. Get it here.. Ted won't run without the latest java.

Apple users can download the latest Runtime Environment from the Apple website. Make sure MacOS uses the 1.5 java by running the app "Java Preferences.app" located in "~/applications/utilities/Java/J2SE 5.0" and select the newest java.

Instead of double clicking ted.jar you could also start ted by opening a command prompt and type "java -jar ted.jar" in the folder where you extracted ted. This will also provide you with some more information why ted did not start.
