Open the genereal preferences window by clicking Edit -> Preferences... in the main menu of ted and select he General tab.
Ted searches for new episodes every now and then, you can edit the interval by entering a new refresh time. Optionally you can disable checking the shows at the start of ted.
You have to select a folder where ted downloads torrents to when he finds a new episode. Optionally, you can let ted fire up your default bittorrent client when a new torrent is found (at the moment only on windows and mac). When your OS or torrentclient does not support this, you need a torrentclient that can check a folder for new torrents every once in a while.
